SYMPOSIUM

Beginning with the "Peopling of the Americas" symposium in 2004, the ASO hosts a biennial archaeological conference in Columbus, Ohio. This is a rare opportunity to hear and interact with some of the most well known, diverse, and knowledgeable archaeologist and archaeological researchers in the county. Some of our previous speakers include Richard M. Gramly, Ph.D, Michael Wiant, Ph.D, Olaf Prufer, Ph.D, Dennis Stanford, Ph.D, Tom Dillehay, Ph.D, Robert Converse, William Romain, Ph.D, John Halsey, Ph.D, Stanley Baker, John C. Rummel, Darrin Lowery, Ph.D, David Strothers, Ph.D, William Dancey, Ph.D, Jarrod Burks, and Barbara Harkness, Ph.D.

Our longer two day format of eight to ten speakers and a Saturday evening Keynote Speaker allows time for speakers to present the background, context, and implication that the subjects deserve. The symposium is timed to coincide with our May State meeting on Sunday. This makes for a great three day weekend of archaeology.

Our fifth biennial symposium, titled Prehistoric Cultures II, will take place on May 18 and 19, 2012 at the Columbus Airport Marriot in Columbus Ohio. The Columbus Airport Marriot is located near the airport at 1375 North Cassady Avenue. Our State meeting will take place on May 20, 2012 at the nearby Aladdin Shrine Convention Center and will include speakers and numerous displays of archaeological collection and site material.

Register today by printing the symposium registration document and mailing the completed form along with your payment to Carl Harruff, P.O. Box 81 Sparta, Ohio 43350. Any questions, please contact Carl Harruff at (419) 253-4804 or Michael Van Steen at (937) 766-5411.

A block of rooms, at a discounted rate of $99.00/night have been reserved with the host hotel for this event;
please contact the hotel directly (800-228-9290) to reserve a room and mention the symposium to receive this
rate.
