More Mound City Earthworks 


              The mounds at Mound City are encircled by an earthen wall. Earthen walls are are common characteristic of Hopewell geometric earthworks. Often, they were constructed in the shape of a square or a circle. Today, archaeologists are still trying to unravel the mystery as to why these walls were constructed in this manner.
